When was the last time you spring cleaned? Maybe it was at the start of the New Year, when you made your resolutions and plans. Or maybe it really was last spring...

NB – if you are unsure what Spring Clean means the dictionary says, ‘thorough cleaning of a house or room, typically undertaken in spring’, and in this case we are using the season to deep clean your Career.
Essentially, this month’s newsletter is to prepare you to think smarter, not harder.
I know when you read that, your heart raced a little, as you thought about THAT job.
I’m not sure about you, but as your Career Coach, I must tell you that feeling fed up with your career and going on a panic hunt to find another role isn’t the way to go. Not only does this increase your cortisol levels and ultimately can contribute to overall unhappiness and overwhelm, but it’s also not very productive either.
This Spring let’s be smart. Whether you are happy or unhappy with your role, always maintain a subtle alertness. What I mean by this is to lay the foundation for your future, smoothly. Take autonomy. This transfers to Mastery and will equate to Fulfilment - Trust me on this and let’s start this Month’s guidance.
Remember, this is a people’s business, and with people, you need to take time to make real connections. After that’s why we’re called Careerships: Career + Relationships! If you do this now - whether you are into it or not - when the time arrives for your job switch, you’ll have people around you can trust that can support you with this career move. Not only that, but they may also know someone who knows someone who can connect you to where you truly want to be.

How often are you taking actions towards your ultimate goal?
I mean, the really Big Hairy Ambitious Goal (BHAG) that lives at the far end of your mind.
Is it to retire on a beach? Have that super car? Move and work abroad?
That big dream that is always floating above your vision board needs to come true at some point. But are you taking the right steps to get closer to it?
Seize the Day, Every Day.
By this, I mean, take an active step closer to that BHAG. I’m sure you’ve heard before that small acts lead up to big success, and that is absolutely correct. No matter how small it may be, overtime this will equate you to achieving your BHAG rather it turn into a distant dream.
Spring Clean now, realise your BHAG and how you’ll get there.
1st, get specific. Which country – which city.
2nd timelines. When do you want to move?
3rd Lay the foundation. Get active on LinkedIn, connect with those in your industry in that country and even better, in that city.
4th Start to casually scout the market over there, become acquainted.
5th Turn this into a routine. Truly become adapted to this dream career goal, by interacting with those in your dream position/ company. Research more. Adapt your CV and skills if needed. Think about it, could you pick up some language terms to create a better impression?
6th Overtime this will transition your brain, as it doesn’t know the difference between what’s real and what’s not.
7th Maintain this process (adapting to your personal specifics) and the opportunity will arise and you will be prepared. All because you adapted your Spring Clean smartly, which lands you closer to your BHAG.
