If you are feeling fearful like many of those around you, unsure of what will happen next, it’s important here to zoom out on your timeline. Think about where you are in life. If you are anxious about tomorrow, zoom out a little further. If you are stressed about next month, zoom a little further. Keep zooming out and you will realise that actually some of the things affecting you are less important with a universal perspective. Then think about what you can change and what you would like to change so that a year from now your circumstances are better and more fulfilling. We only get one life after all!!
When you start to see what that might be, a new job, better income, a better house, feeling gitter, it’s time to be selfish, be greedy and go for it. Whilst everyone around you is clinging to what they know best because of the fear factor, if you are greedy you will get ahead.
Long term sustainable excellent change takes time. If you bounce from one thing to another quickly you may get a short term fix but it might not be the right change. On average a good quality career change can take 6 months. So if you would like to be in a new exciting role around Christmas time or just after, the time to start strategising is now! Get ahead before the world wakes up in September!
